It's funny how you see something and it causes you to remember something and want to blog about it. That just happened to me. A friend (Jami ) had some pictures of her dad (Cary Sutter) nursing a hummingbird he found in his garage. Apparently it couldn't fly due to the overnight cold and lack of food. Cary fed it sugar water with a dropper. He nursed it back to health. It was able to fly away.
As I said I thought of hummingbird stories we have in our family.
Dan has kept our feeders full of the nectar that attracts hummingbirds. We've got a few in front of our living room window. Ever since the twins were babies if we saw the hummingbirds eating we would point them out to the kids. So as they got older they would get so excited to see them. They are fascinating creatures, I must say, I enjoy sitting and watching them too. One afternoon I saw them playing with each other. There were 4 or 5 of them buzzing around they would hit the feeder then another would come in and almost tag one , then that one would fly off a little bit then go in and tag the next one. It was quite entertaining.
Well, a few weeks ago Ashbie took Angi's dog Jade out front on the leash to go potty. When she was done Ashbie came in and said that scared me. We said, What? She said," I was standing there by the bush waiting for Jade, I heard a buzz and thought it was a bee, when I looked up there was a hummingbird right by my head." We laughed and said aren't you glad it wasn't a bee. She agreed.

Sitting here reading this about the hummingbirds reminds me: It's time to refill the feeders. Cute story about Ashbie.
We love our hummingbird feeders!! Tim faithfully thawed them out every few hours during the "Arctic Blast" we had during the winter.
